ABOUT US
The International Police Association is an independent body made up of members of the police service, whether on active duty or retired, and without distinction as to rank, sex, race, colour, language or religion. It's purpose is to create bonds of friendship and to promote international co-operation.
The Chairman and Committee of IPA Scotland are committed to improving the IPA in Scotland and assisting our members, both at home and abroad, in any way possible. The IPA itself will soon be 60 years old (2010) having been formed by Arthur Troup in 1950 in Nottingham. Policing nowadays is very different from what Arthur knew in 1950 and is changing quickly. The world has become a smaller place with the invent of the World Wide Web which is now a very simple way to keep in touch and to distribute information.
We hope you will find this site informative and interesting and if you have any suggestions please contact the webmaster.
The Committee for IPA Scotland is as follows:
- Chairman: Ronnie Dukes
- Vice-Chair: Tom Crozier
- Secretary: Andy Wright
- Treasurer: Jim Nisbet
In Scotland we are proud that we have hosted many many IPA members from all over the world at various Friendship Weeks since 1991. Scotland is always a popular place for visitors and Scottish hospitality is renowned throughout the world and we hope that this continues.
The IPA also opens up opportunities for exchanging professional experiences either by exchanges or by attending at conferences at IBZ, Gimborn, in Germany. Click here for more information on seminars held at Gimborn.
Families can also benefit as there are IPA Houses all over the world where members can take advantage of very inexpensive accommodation, and there is an annual Youth Gathering which is hosted in a different country each year. This years Youth Gathering is being hosted by Australia and children and grandchildren of current IPA members aged between 15 and 17 are eligible.
